The Helene Champlain papers consist of her personal and professional correspondence and span the years 1932-1969. The largest portion of letters is from Peter Rollo, whom she corresponded with for over 30 years. These reveal important aspects of Rollo Peters' life and career. Correspondence from famous personalities consist largely of brief impersonal notes and include letters from Maurice Chevalier and Emlyn Williams.

Charles Rollo Peters III (1892-1967) was born in Paris, but moved to California when he was five. He was an actor, scenic designer, director, producer and co-founder of the New York Theatre Guild. He designed the costumes for George Pierce Baker's 1921 The Pilgrim Spirit: a pageant in celebration of the tercentenary of the landing of the Pilgrims at Plymouth, Massachusetts, December 21, 1620. Emlyn Williams was an actor, director, novelist, essayist, and playwright best known for NIGHT MUST FALL and THE CORN IS GREEN.
